Super-Easy-Fast Iced Tea

Super-Easy-Fast Iced Tea

Just the other day, I did a tea tasting with the infectiously enthusiastic ladies of Whoopsies! Gourmet Whoopie Pies in Middleburg, VA. They were preparing for their grand opening (which is this Saturday) and it happened to be unseasonably hot outside and the air-conditioning had not been installed yet. So, needless to say, it was pretty hot. When we started to sample the iced teas the reaction of all the girls was spectacular. The effect of iced cold tea on a hot day is one of pure refreshment. There were a lot of ooh’s and ahh’s with big smiles all around. These reactions are something that will never get old to me. Since I am in the business and drink a gazillion different types of tea, I tend to forget that serving the perfect tea at the perfect time can have an unbelievable effect on people. I know that I am tooting my own horn here, but it is reactions like these that really make my day.

So why am I telling you this?

Because when we were sampling the teas we used the easiest and fastest way to brew a cup of iced tea without any teapots, pitchers or down time. This method is wonderful for when you really need a refreshing drink and you need it fast.

The super-easy-fast way to make iced tea

This is going to be the simplest “how to” article I have written yet. Here is what you need:

  • Your favorite tea (the Whoopsies! girls loved the Coconut Pouchong)

  • A big cup

  • T-Sac

  • Ice

What you need to do

  1. Fill the T-Sac with 2 teaspoons of tea

  2. Fill the large cup halfway with water

  3. Steep the tea in the cup for 4 minutes

  4. Remove the T-Sac and fill the cup with ice.

  5. Drink you delicious ice-cold tea!

Summary

The next time it is hot outside and you feel like you can’t cool down, just make a glass of super-easy-fast iced tea. As you can tell by the corny name I gave this method, it is both super easy and fast, but also incredibly refreshing.

P.S. – I am sure some of you are wondering what a Whoopie Pie is. It is like a cupcake, but it uses more cake and less frosting. Essentially, it is an inside out cupcake. Let me tell you that the Whoopie Pie I had at Whoopsies! was out of this world delicious. If you live in the Washington DC area, I highly recommend visiting their grand opening is this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm in Middleburg VA. Here is their website and Facebook page with all the details.
